New Executive Director Announcement

ROCKVILLE, MD, August 30, 2019 – As Vikara Village moves into our third year, we are thrilled to announce the selection of Hannah Davis as our new Executive Director. Hannah began her new role on August 16, 2019.

“It’s an exciting time for us as our founder, Hannah, recently came on-board as full-time Executive Director. We have seen tremendous growth in our programs – from Safe Space Yoga to Body Love – over the past few years,” says Jayme Stroud, Board Chair of Vikara Village. “I am looking forward to being a part of helping to continue to grow the Vikara Village community and our programs by harnessing the communal spirit of yoga and the arts to empower individuals to reach their full potential.”

Hannah brings over a decade of nonprofit experience to Vikara Village. “Working in nonprofits allows you to wear a lot of different hats. It’s important to have an understanding of how all of these different pieces fit together,” says Hannah of her experience in volunteer and program management, fundraising, community outreach and events.

In addition to her vast nonprofit experience, Hannah is a social worker and has worked across the state of Maryland and Arizona to advance social justice in low-income communities. She gained first-hand experience working directly with youth and families connected to child welfare and assisted administrators in the daily operations of a large state-run child welfare agency. Hannah has completed various healing arts trainings and earned her 200-Hour yoga teacher certification from Sky House Yoga in Silver Spring, MD in 2017.

Hannah is the Founder of Vikara Village, and has served in a volunteer capacity since our informal founding in 2013.

After three years operating under fiscal sponsorship, Hannah led the organization through the process to become a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization in October 2016. Over the last six years, Hannah has developed and implemented our strategic planning, communication and fundraising campaigns, secured grant funding and built partnerships throughout the community.

Hannah is a Lifetime Member of Girl Scouts and sits on the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital Gold Award Panel. In November 2018, she was appointed to the Board of Directors for Montgomery County Collaboration Council.

Please join us in welcoming Hannah into this exciting new chapter in Vikara Village’s history. With the arrival of our new Executive Director, we remind our Vikara Village friends and supporters that our mission and core values will always remain the same. Please consider making a gift to show your support.
